This piece is represents a Spider Lily using an inlay technique known as bolection, which in this case basically means "proud of the surface". The natural edge black ash burl slab is approximately 1 1/4" thick by 11" wide by 18 1/2" long. The lily's leaves are tiger maple, the stem is mahogany, the pedals are mazanita, and the stamen are bloodwood.  Even though the pics show the slab in a free standing stand, this piece is intended to be wall hung. Accordingly the back of the slab has a keyhole slot from which the piece can be hung from a single screw.
