The production of this piece was the subject an an article I wrote for American Woodturner, April 2012,. It measures approximately 31" D x 3" D. It is my version of shield from ancienty Greece. The body of the shield is turned from maple burl, the rim and border around the center piece is Honduran Mahogany. The center piece features various pieces of Abolone, Mother of Pearl, Stone, and Brass inlayed into Ebony. It can be displayed on either the wall bracket or one that is sort of a large plate stand based design when 360 degree viewing is desired.
Note: This current piece is pretty unique, so I would like to keep it for my own. However, I certainly would consider making another one for anyone interested in having one.
